The First Civil Code ofAzerbaijan: 100 years
A scientific conference on the centenary of the 1923 Civil Code, held at ADA University on 15 December 2023 on the initiative of the School of Law and ADA Law Society.
On 15 December 2023, on the initiative of the ADA University School of Law and ADA Law Society, the University hosted the scientific conference “The First Civil Code in the Republic of Azerbaijan: 100 Years”. Guests from the public and private sectors attended, with faculty and students from ADA University and other law schools in Azerbaijan.
The conference opened with remarks by the Dean, Dr Rashad Ibadov. Presentations covered the history of the 1923 Civil Code; the Civil Code today, its new provisions and current challenges; the influence of Roman law on civil law; the place of commercial relations in civil law; a comparison of the 1923 Code with the current Civil Code; and the influence of the German Civil Code on the Civil Code of Azerbaijan. Members of the Society closed the day by presenting its current work and plans.
